Changing Blog Host

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged but I wanted to let everyone know that I will now be blogging directly through my website. I encourage you to go check it out. You can see it by going to www.andrewborgesphotography.com and pressing blog or by going directly to www.andrewborgesphotography.com/blog.

The integration with my web page will allow quicker and easier posts with photos which will allow me to blog more and add more photos.

Head over and check it out, I just added a post about some upcoming events I’m excited about and I think you will like too.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Woah, where are all the pictures?!

Hey everyone, just a quick update. There aren’t going to be any photos in the post, just some news.

You may notice that all the pictures that were in my blogs have now disapeared. This is due to the fact that I have switched web hosts to be able to better serve my customers and provide lower costs on prints. I also find my new site to be more visually appealing.

Since all of the previous photos were linked to my SmugMug hosted account, and I have closed it and opened my Zenfolio account, all of those links are no longer valid. This means that that photo no longer exists except on my hard drive and new site.

I may, sometime in the future, re-link all of those photos but it won’t be any time in the super near future. If there are particular photos you are really wanting to see let me know I can post them up.

If you’d like to check out my new site, it’s the same URL: www.andrewborgesphotography.com. I really like it and think you will too. The lower prices on fine art prints is also really exciting, I hope you’ll take the time to view them.

Thanks everyone, and have a great evening!

Willamette River Photo Project and Flood Update

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t updated the blog in the past week, the weather kept me indoors most of the week. I have decided to discontinue the Willamette River photo project due the fact that the flooding kept me from doing it last week and the water levels have not gone down at all, which was rather surprising. Two of my spots are now completely inaccessible so it’s not really possible at this point to continue.

Willamette River Flooding in Albany

While I’m sure some of you may be tired of reading and hearing about the endless news of the flooding all around Oregon, I figured I would head out today and get a few photos of some of the high water around Albany.

Last night, I went out and tried to get some photos of the highest water on some of the roads around Albany, but did not end up with many great ones. It was dark and the bad conditions made it difficult to take long exposures. By the time I went out today, a lot of the flooding that had occurred on the roads in the city had subsided but the Willamette River was still rather high.

I took some photos at Bryant Park and Takena Landing, both of which were gated off to vehicle travel. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) issued flood warnings for many areas along the Willamette, including Albany. At 8:37PM NOAA issued an update saying that the flood warning was still in effect for Albany and recorded the water level at 19.4 FT as of 6:00PM. NOAA forecasts minor flooding and states that the river should crest flood levels (25 Feet) around 11:00 AM Friday and should crest near 27 feet at around 10PM Friday. This will cause flooding in the parks and areas of South Albany. (Credit: NOAA, http://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/misc/display_prod.cgi?FLSPQR?Daily)

Willamette River Project Week 4

Hey everyone! I didn’t take photos of the river last week because I was taking photos for the sled dog race on Mount Hood. I went back today and got photos and the river has dropped down to a more normal level. I stayed shooting the spots from last time at Bowman park so it would remain the same throughout the project and I’m not sure how the river will change in the future. It can’t seem to make up it’s mind.

Here are the photos!

Sled Dog Racers at Frog Lake, Mount Hood

Happy Monday!

This past weekend there was a mock sled dog race on the Frog Lake trail on Mount Hood. The original race got cancelled due to lack of snow, but some of the local racers still held a mock race for fun and training. The weather was great both days and it was fun to see the racers. Here are some of the photos from the weekend:
